Playing in front of a record gathering of 17,209 in their home state, the No. 1 Huskers put together a 27-30, 30-26, 30-28, 30-27 victory over second-ranked Stanford to win their first NCAA title since 2000.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for this team,” said seventh year NU coach John Cook. “I think of any team at Nebraska, this might be one of the greatest seasons ever. This team definitely maxed out. The pressure they had to play through all season long - it’s just a tremendous accomplishment.”
Nebraska won it all behind an MVP performance from national player of the year Sarah Pavan. And Jordan Larson - who endured a horrific match when NU lost to Washington in last year’s NCAA final - bounced back with a fantastic showing against the Cardinal.
