As Husker fans the past month has not been the best. From getting blown out in consecutive weeks to losing recruits, it is something that the Husker Nation is not used too. As we have seen earlier this week with the de-committ of Jonas Gray, (who has now committed to Notre Dame), the football team is going to definately lose out on some recruits and they are uncertain of what will happen with the coaching staff.
Right now Blaine Gabbert and Will Compton are both looking into Missouri. Which makes since, as both players are from the state of Missouri. Doug Rippy and D.J. Woods are also looking at different schools. They were our two players from the state of Ohio.
As you can see, this recruiting class is going to lose some players, but we are also going to gain some other ones who are putting their trust into Tom Osborne, that he will go out and hire the best available coach that the Huskers can get.
Just last night, the nations #1 defensive junior college player, Simi Kuli committed to the Nebraska Football team. Kuli is a defensive end from El Camino Community College in California. I’ve been reading that the final three teams in his recruiting were Texas A&M, LSU, and Nebraska. Yes, he choose the Huskers over the LSU Tigers!
Lets roll with the punches and see how the recruiting class turns out, and as well with the coaching staff. As we all know, there is going to be some changes made, so lets set back and see what Osborne has in mind and stay behind our program!
GO BIG RED!
Jonas Gray, the star running back from Michigan has decided to de-commit from the University of Nebraska and open up his recruiting once again. He says his decision is because of Coach Callahan being on the hot seat and he doesn’t want to play for a coach that could be out of there in a year or even sooner.
Gray is listing Notre Dame, Michigan, LSU, and Nebraska has his favorites right now. He is still interested in the Huskers, he just wants to see how things play out with the coaching staff.
Also, look for Blaine Gabbert to do the same once the coaching change is made. I see Gabbert moving onto Missouri but I sure hope I am wrong. This is what happens when you have coaches on the brink of being fired, your recruiting class doesn’t know what to do, and they have to try to make the best decisions for their future. You can’t fault these guys for looking around, if I were them, I would be too.
Rivals.Com released their updated Top100 players list today and also made some changes to their 5-star selections. Nebraska Recruits, Blaine Gabbert, Bryce Givens, and Jonas Gray all moved up in the rankings.
Blain Gabbert moved up to the #14 players in the country and received his 5th star. Many people expected Gabbert to be a 5-star from the beginning but was only awarded a 4-star by Rivals. Once he showed off his arm at the a Nike Camp and the Elite 11 camp, everyone was blown away and knew he would be getting the 5th star during the next update.
Bryce Givens moved all the way up to #69 in the Top100. Givens totally dominated at the Boulder Nike Camp and scouts really took notice. He has a large frame and can easily play around 300 lbs and move around just as fast he does right now. It could be scary what Givens does in Husker Red.
Jonas Gray, the speedy running back from Michigan has moved up to the #36 spot in the list. Gray is a player that could come in and get early playing time as a freshman. He is currently rated the top player in Michigan.
A bigtime running back recruit has committed to the Nebraska Football team this morning. The #1 player out of the state of Michigan, Jonas Gray said yes to the Huskers over scholarship offers from the Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans, Wisconsin Badgers, Lousiville Cardinals, Florida Gators, Minnesota Gophers, and more smaller schools.
Gray is a 5′10, 213 lb running back that is very quick. He ran a 4.58 40 at the Michigan camp which is always ran at much slower speeds due to their track. Gray had the fastest time ever at that camp and that is when Michigan offered a scholarship and really tried to get him to join their team.
It will be exciting to see Jonas part of the Big Red in a year!
