What are the players thinking? That is one question I have to ask myself as you see across the country as players are being suspended for violation of team rules. Well now it has struck the Nebraska baseball team right before a tough tournament down in Texas.
Ace starting pitcher Tony Watson and reliever Mike Harmelink did not travel with the Nebraska baseball team today to Houston and will miss the three-game Rice Invitational for violating team rules, coach Mike Anderson said. Watson, a 10-game winner last year and preseason All-American, was scheduled to pitch Friday as NU opened the weekend against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The junior left-hander allowed one run in six innings to earn the win last week as Nebraska beat New Mexico in its season opener. Sophomore lefty Drew Bowman, a transfer from Arizona State who threw three innings of relief last week, will start in Watson’s place.
You gotta hope other players take notice of this and really watch their actions.
