NebraskaNebraska and Oklahoma State will kickoff on Saturday at 11:30 central time from Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.  Will this be a game where we see the Huskers season turn around, headed in the right direction?  Or will it be another step backwards for Coach Callahan, his staff, and his players?

I think this matchup comes right back onto the Nebraska defense.  If Cozgrove elects to rush some players and cause some havoc rather then sitting back and letting the offense come to the defense I like our chances.  One key not though is that Suh, might be suspended for part of this game if not all of it for an altercation at practice the other day.  That could really hurt our already thin defensive line.

One matchup that I’m really looking forward to watching is Zack Bowman going against Adarius Bowman of the Cowboys.  Will Nebraka use Bowman as a lockdown corner the entire game against Bowman?  I would think they would, which would free up a saftey to help put the rest of the defense.  Bowman locked down on Todd Blythe and that worked pretty weel, so I like our chances doing the same with Adarius Bowman.

I think our offense will put up some points on this Cowboys defense.  Sam Keller will get the offense going, and Marlon Lucky will contribute with over 100 all purpose yards.

I like the Huskers to win this game 35-24

NebraskaA three-star offensive linemen from The Woodlands High School in Texas has committed to the Nebraska Football Program.  Brandon Thompson visited Lincoln a few weeks ago and was blown away with the facilities and the coaches.  Thompson had over 20 scholarship offers, and everyone from the Big 12 except for Texas and OU.

Right now Thompson stands at 6’6 and 280 lbs.  Expect him to be near 300 lbs when he takes the field in a Husker uniform.

Welcome to the Big Red Family Mr. Thompson

NebraskaAleks Maric has been selected for the all Big 12 preseason basketball team.  We all know preseason rankings really don’t mean much but it is nice to see Maric being honored.

Maric is only the fourth Nebraska player to make the preseason team, joining Tyronn Lue in 1997, Venson Hamilton in 1998 and Kimani Ffriend in 2000.

Maric is the leading returning scorer and rebounder in the Big 12. Last season, the 6-11 Australian averaged 18-and-a-half points and almost nine rebounds.

NebraskaWhat a dissapointing night for the Nebraska Football team on Saturday night.  The offense couldn’t get anything going, the defense sucked, and the coaches flat out dropped the ball.  C’mon boys, grab your jocks, strap it up, and start playing and coaching like you want to play and coach for the Huskers.

Missouri amassed 606 yards of total offense, including 411 through the air and 195 on the ground. The Huskers managed 297 yards, including 223 yards passing and 74 rushing yards.  That right there can pretty much explain why the Huskers were blown out.  No running game, no defense = blowout.

I’m tired of saying, so what do we do to fix these problems.  I have no idea, I would start with saying goodbye to Cozgrove but that isn’t going to happen until the end of the season atleast.  All I can say is go out there, let the boys fly around and hopefully they will put some wins on the scoreboard.  And play some of those freshman whom have burned their redshirts.

NebraskaA strongside defensive / end and tightend from South Dakota has picked the Nebraska Cornhuskers over the Iowa Hawkeyes for his college destination.

Riley Reiff first committed to the Iowa Hawkeye program early in the recruiting game, but later said he would like to open things up and he continued to look at the Huskers.  He says that he is fully committed to the Huskers after working in Lincoln for a while this summer and getting to know the coaches a little bit better.

Reiff is one player that could really be great in 2-3 years once he gets into the strength and conditioning program.  He prefers to play defense so he will need to add some more muscle for that position.

NebraskaThe Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Missouri Tigers are set to battle it out for the lead in the Big 12 North Saturday night in Columbus, Missouri.  What Nebraska team will show up for this prime time game that will be televised on ESPN is the big question.

Will we see the defense stand up and play like they are capable of and shut down Chase Daniel, Martin Rucker, and Chase Coffman?  I have heard that Phillip Dilliard will start over McKeon so that will help get some more speed in the linebacker corps to keep up with Rucker and Coffman.  I have also heard we could see some Steve Octavien down on the defense line trying to get pressure on Daniel.  If we can get pressure I like our chances alot.

Also, look for Major Culbert to get time at linebacker where he will spy Daniel.  This worked well last year with Culbert since he has the speed and quickness to keep up with Daniel if he decides to take off running.

On the offensive side of the ball, will the Nebraska rushing attack of Marlon Lucky, Cody Glenn, Quentin Castille, and Roy Helu be able to run the ball?  The offensive line is going to have to play better and protect Sam Keller for that to happen.  I look for Keller to have a big game and put some some good numbers and lead the Huskers to at 4 point victory on the road.

What do you all think?  Will the Huskers pull this one out and move closer towards a Big 12 North Title?
